What is RSS and what are RSS feeds?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. RSS is basically a group of web feed formats that allow users to publish changing content such as newcasts, blogs, and podcasts. An RSS feed contains a summary of the content or full text from an associated website.
RSS feeds are used by people to be aware of changing content on a particular website or group of websites automatically. RSS feeds make it possible for users to get this updated content without having to manually go to those websites to check and see if the content there has changed. To read RSS content, users would need to have software known as a "feed reader" or "aggregator". Users would need to subscribe to an RSS feed from a particular website by entering the link of the feed into the aggregator (feed reader). Another way to do that is to click on the RSS icon on a web browser to begin receiving the feeds they want.
The reader then checks the feeds that the user has subscribed to and downloads updated content as it finds it.
